Days 11 to 15

Anakao

The last portion of our journey towards the South will bring us to the center of the savannah and its immense serenity. These vast dry plains contain focused areas of vegetation growth but are mostly made up of precious and semi-precious stone deposits. This is region is known as the Sapphire Kingdom!

Now that we’ve completed a few treks, it will be time for some relaxation time on the Malagasy Western coast beaches, where the sand is white and abundant. Anakao offers the experience of the authentic coastal way of life via fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, pirogue riding or simply by exchanging cultures with a nomad on the beach!

Fort Dolphin

Before returning back to the capital, Antananarivo, by plane, we will pass by the Fort Dolphin region: Our guide will take us here by boat, mooring in the Evatra and Lokaro bays. This day will include a very interesting meal featuring refined cuisine prepared with the fishermen’s catch of the day. It will also be highlighted by a pirogue ride around the Mangroves and a nice walk along the hills that bring us to have a dip in the Indian Ocean.

We finish the day after sunset, where we return to Fort Dolphin at night, and are able to enjoy the amazing array of stars in the sky, and of course the local live music that accompanies us makes this last day simply magical!
