Sophie Sigouin

Born in Montreal, her parents are native from the now famous Mont-Tremblant region. As a youngster she spent a lot of time swimming as a hobby, which then turned out to be her first jobs as she went from lifeguard to swimming monitor to swimming aerobics instructor.
She then worked in administration in various fields, and as her calling for adventure began to make itself more and more present in her goals, she decided to go on an expedition and discover beautiful British Columbia. The she worked for the Whistler Blackomb Ski Resort where she insured skiers’ and snowboarders’ safety on the mountain.
A few years later, she returned to her roots, getting hired at the Mont Tremblant Resort. However, her sense of adventure refusing to fade, she embarked on a 15-month journey to work for an Egyptian student workshop organisation called WESC (Wadi Environnment Science Center. Dedicating herself to organizing student excursions that were both fun and educational, she also ended up working in an ecolodge in the Eastern Egyptian desert, as well as Red Sea diving center. She even had the chance to guide camel treks in the Protected National Park in Southern Egypt.
According to Sophie, the experience that is acquired during a trip is not only appreciation of the natural beauty we can observe, but more importantly the creation of a positive impact of our presence. Her ambitions now aim at demonstrating that ecotourism not only allows for one’s personal satisfaction through amazing discoveries but also a true sense of enrichment through cultural exchange.
